Dig Your Heels In Deeper!

It has been said that the things that are the hardest are the things that are worth doing because nothing ever worth doing is going to be easy.

Speaking from personal experience, I know the above statement to be true! It’s all in how you look at things. I have always been drawn to engage in things that require lots of hard work. I don’t choose them, they choose me. My loves and interests tend to be things that require lots of reading, lots of practice and lots of mental focus. Those three things can discourage a person from even getting involved.

You have to always start with what you love to do, not what you ‘Think’ you should do! You will be most successful at what you are passionate about. Don’t allow yourself to engage in too much thinking about making money from it. Things happen all within the right time. Your focus should be on developing to your fullest potential.

If you don’t have a healthy dose of confidence in yourself, no one else will. It’s starts with you, after all, it will affect how you present what you do. People can smell insecurity and a lack of confidence from a mile away.

Discipline is essential to perfecting any skill. That’s one of the tough ones. I am faced with the decision to put aside everything else to make time for what I love to do the most. There are the important things that we must do daily, but then there are the other ‘Optional’ things that aren’t going to bring us any real value. Those are the things that we need to push aside and get to doing what it is we need to do in order to achieve what we say we want to achieve.

Learn as much as you can about what you’re passionate about. That should involve reading, taking necessary workshops, net working with like minds, and placing yourself in the environment that will be conducive for your growth.

Don’t be afraid of set backs, disappointments or negative feedback. It’s all a part of the process. I worked on a project for four months and submitted it for evaluation only to be told to change my approach and follow the suggestions given. I could have walked away discouraged with the desire to give up, but instead, I decided to take a few months to work on the weak areas and start the process again to resubmit my work. Did I want to do it? No! Did I have to do it? No! So why bother? I did what was suggested because the persons who were evaluating me were some of the best in the field. I knew that they knew their stuff and wanted me to work a little harder because they saw the passion I had for it. As a result, I became better. I learned a lot and am benefitting from the hard work that I put in.

Always remember, nothing that is ever worth it will come easy! You don’t want it to be easy! You now have the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to develop to your full potential. It is healthy to grow, and it’s healthy to be challenged! Without challenges,  there’s very little left to motivate you; and you definitely need all the motivation you can get. There will be days when you want to hang it up, and days when you’ll ask yourself, “What was I thinking when I took this on?” That’s all par for the course, so hang in there!

All You Can Be

If I were to take a survey, asking 100 people this question, “Are you working towards being all that you can be?” I would probably get more positive answers than not. If I follow that question with, “How many hours do you spend focusing on your passion?” I would get blank stares or answers that would suggest that they want to, but.

In a fast moving world with daily obligations, I’d be the first to tell you that it is an absolute challenge to stay focused, for any length of time, in order to get important things accomplished. It takes discipline to develop your passion. It takes sacrifice to nurture it. It takes having a vision in order to see that you have something worth pursuing. Passion is directly connected to what you are to be doing in life.

The challenge may be this; you are distracted by things that aren’t going to really matter in the long run. There are so many distractions in life. Work can be a needful distraction if too much of ones time is given to it beyond what is actually needed.

Discipline is a must to achieve anything worthy in life. It’s been said that, “Good habits are hard to break and bad habits are hard to break.” So very true! Discipline requires down sizing. The amount of time spent weekly engaging in  television, movies, socializing and simply doing nothing, will have to stop. Your time will have to be budgeted and dispensed differently.

It takes focus and discipline to follow and feed your passion! The people around you won’t understand it unless they are doing likewise. If you can manage to set a realistic weekly schedule that will allow you to work on the thing or things you’re passionate about, you’ll  see how it will drawn you in, leaving you with joy and satisfaction.

In order to be all you can be, you need to appreciate being alone, to a great extent. You will have to become comfortable with yourself, and the process it will take to see your passion grow wings. I never met one successful person who didn’t understand the importance of spending time alone .

An artist spends a certain amount of hours daily sketching and painting. A runner constantly trains and does all of the things that will help him or her win the race. A writer writes daily as they work towards the goal of publishing their book.

The only one that can stand in the way of you becoming all you can be is ‘YOU’! You are in charge of your time, outside of work and other mandatory responsibilities. There are 24 hours in each day and we all are given the same amount of time.

Don’t let life pass you by while you sit holding potential in your hand! Life is short and time waits for no one! Life is brief and you don’t know when your number will be up. Things happen quickly when you least expect it. Day after day you are growing older. What will you have to show for the years you’ve been given?

What kind of potential do you possess? What are you passionate about? What is within your grasp, right now, that can assist you in achieving it? Are you in company with others who are working towards the same goals? Have you taken seminars, workshops or read books that can give you the information needed in order to set a plan in motion?

Don’t let another day go by where you don’t try to respond to that burning desire within you! Focus in and discipline yourself. Remember, there will always be time to socialize, watch T.V. and veg out. But for now, don’t rob yourself or the world. You have something great to offer!

It Takes Nothing To Join The Crowd

Standing Alone WordPress

As an observer of ‘Human Nature’, I have seen some disturbing things. I have witness people who join with others simply because they are afraid of being left out. Left out of what, you might ask?  They realize that the few individuals who seem to have the so called power and authority  have the ‘say so’. What’s interesting is that those in authority are often talked about, negatively, by the very ones who follow them.

Let’s face it, not everyone has the strength or the fortitude to be an individual who can stand alone.

There’s a tactic that weaker people use against those who don’t have a need to join their crowd. Yes, I said it, I call them ‘Weaker’, despite the fact that they are ultimately in charge. The tactic is to use their position of authority to dictate who gets to participate in or be a part of anything that they are heading up. If you don’t fall in line with them, they keep you out. It’s as simple as that!

I’ve watch how people respond to this particular tactic. It always makes me smile, while at the same time, I find it disturbing. It is disturbing to see individuals with good potential follow those who are weak. Weak persons have tons of insecurities which make them feel inadequate. Their self-esteem lies in their  position or title. They can be very educated and talented, yet, so very insecure. They have a tendency  to manipulate, or influence others to do the dirty work for them. This way, they could never be directly accused of doing anything wrong against anyone. Often, they have a great need for affirmation. Sometimes there’s a person in their group who has the stronger voice and the leader hides behind their ability to push things forward. They can only function comfortably by having other individuals in their camp. If you have the opportunity to catch them alone, you will notice how they  fade into the background.

It takes absolutely nothing to join the crowd! All you do is put up and shut up! If you find that difficult to do, you will be forced to stand alone.

There is something admirable about the man or woman who stands alone. They exhibit strength and confidence. They know who they are! They are men and women who have courage and integrity! Their self-esteem lies in someone or something greater than themselves! They are usually on the side of what is right. They are never found in compromising situations and neither do they participate in the manipulation of others. They do not sit on the side lines gossiping or speaking against other persons. They are leaders! They face challenges head on and deal with whatever is thrown at them.

Although it isn’t always pleasant or easy to stand alone, the benefits are worth it! A person who has made the conscious decision to stand alone will experience ostracizing, hatred and possible attacks. Nevertheless, they will have peace of mind. They can close their eyes at night with a clear conscious. They will be the ones who help others to grow and to prosper. Individuals who are looking to accomplish positive things will always seek them out. They will have the wisdom and discernment that is needed to guide a project, lead a group or head up a department. They will be an asset to any group or organization because they have learned, by experience, how to navigate under the most difficult of situations. Everything that they put their hands to do will almost always lead to success!

Are you an individual who follows the crowd or can you stand alone? Always remember, ‘It Takes Nothing To Join the Crowd, It Takes Everything To Stand Alone!” What stuff are you made of?

That Time of Year

Fall Season2015 is quickly coming to an end and I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is 5 weeks away! At the end of each year, I try to reflect over the past months and take inventory.

It’s important to take inventory of our lives. We should also set realistic goals that will enable us to achieve what is necessary and vital for happiness and productivity.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand still for too long. I have to be moving and growing and trying new things. That’s how I spell ‘Growth’.

I am in the process of finishing my fourth book as well as creating works of art that will hit the market place.

2015 has been a year wrought with challenges of all kinds. Life wouldn’t be ‘Life’ without these divine interruptions. By the time Thanksgiving comes around, I will have a host of things that I am grateful and thankful for!

Overall, its been a good year so far, at least for me. I’ve seen a lot and I’ve learned a lot. That is something no one can take away from me! I took creativity to a completely different level, while challenging myself at the same time.

I took the ‘Hard Things’ that life and God handed me and rolled with it, knowing that it was all going to work for my good!

It feels good to grow and to expand in areas of the heart and mind.

That’s what makes life worth living!
