Value Time!

It is true, that in life, we spend the majority of our time with the things that we value the most.

When I was younger, I did not value ‘Time’. My sense of ‘Time’ was simply to ignore it. It came everyday and everyday I used it ignorantly.

Today, I view ‘Time’ differently! Everyday that it comes, I snatch it, while trying to hold on to it! Since I cannot extend the hours of the day, or remain awake long enough to achieve all of the things I want to accomplish, I wake up earlier. I am simply trying to gain more time to do the things God has placed me here to do. It’s a daily frustrating task, chasing ‘Time’.

‘Time’ waits for no man! We must make the most of what we’ve been given. Had I known, when I was younger, that ‘Time’ would eventually run out, I would have planned differently. Had I known that I would become tired earlier in the day, I would have made efforts to focus more on my strengths while starving my weaknesses. Had I known that my physical ability would diminish, I would have made the time to strengthen my body. Had I known that my youth would fade, I would have spent less time in the mirror, less time worrying and wondering what I was going to wear, and instead, I would have produced more art.

I am now more mindful and respectful of ‘Time’. I am making the most with what I’m given everyday! I give no excuses for not writing, producing artistically, or reading each day. By 9 pm each night, I must have something to show for the ‘Time’ I’ve used.

It is the second month of the new year, how are you using ‘Time’? Have you managed to keep the resolutions you made at the end of 2016? Have you kept your own word for changing the things in your life that need changing?

When you’re young, you never stop to think about dying. When you become middle-aged, you see things differently, and when you see that ‘Hill’ coming, you realize that ‘Time’ is running out! Each day that you and I wake up, is a blessing, and another opportunity to make the most of the life we’ve been given. ‘Time’ can easily run out on us in a micro-second or sooner! None of us know how long it was destined for us to be alive.

Value ‘Time’! Respect ‘Time’! Don’t Waste It or Ignore It! After it is all said and done, we will have to give an account for the ‘Time’ we had, here on the earth!

The ‘Conscience’ That’s Tired of Being Ignored!

Conscience – an inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one’s behavior.

We all have one! Not all of us respond well to our conscience and what it tells us to do in every given situation.

The ‘Conscience’ has been given to us, by God, I believe, to caution us and to stop us from making a wrong decision, as well as to convict us in the event that we do.  At times, our conscience leaves us feeling good and at other times it can leave us feeling badly. There is a reason for that!

The question becomes this; how do we respond to the tug of the conscience? We are definitely free to ignore it or to listen to it. We can delay its message to us or we can flat out disagree. None the less, we won’t be able to shut it up!

The ‘Conscience’ is there to help us adjust ourselves and our thinking. If our conscience convicts us of doing wrong or responding negatively to something, we need to pay attention to it and make the necessary adjustments.

There are some who wrestle with their conscience. They refuse to take heed to it and they wrestle with the convicted feelings that have been stabbing at them. This isn’t a good thing. Never wrestle with your conscience!

Admitting to oneself that the thing you are about to do and say is wrong or destructive may be difficult, but if you follow through on a negative action, your conscience will get you! You try to shove it away and dismiss it, all the while lying to yourself. You know that your conscience is trying to guide you into what is right, but you just won’t listen to it.

I have no sympathy for those who ignore their conscience. Eventually, they’ll hit a brick wall and suffer the consequences for their actions. By then, they deserve whatever comes!

There is nothing more beautiful than when your conscience leaves you feeling free, elated and glad! The outcome of your action may not make everyone else happy, but you’ll have peace of mind because you have done the right thing. After all, each person has to be able to live with their conscience and at the end of the day, sleep with it too.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that the longer you delay the proper response to your conscience, that you will eventually stop hearing its prodding. Honestly, you cannot ignore it! It will always resurface, and when it does, you will have bigger problems! The task that it has been calling you to do will become harder the longer you wait.

The conscience that is tired of being ignored, will implode, and go through violent compression. I have witnessed the aftermath of a person who refused to listen to their conscience. The pain and distress that they experienced was devastating to watch. There was no comfort for them. Their regret was a mile long. The spill out affected other people. The casualties were great.

There are only 4 more days left to 2016. Let us all be mindful to not ignore that inner voice.  If our conscience call us to swallow our pride, let’s do it. It will benefit us in the end. If it assaults us because we did the dastardly thing, make things right with whoever the right is due. If our conscience leaves us in peace feeling great, wonderful, we will reap the harvest from it and add more stature to our character!

Making 2017 A Year To Be Proud Of!

How was 2016? Was it all you had expected it to be? Did you set goals? Did you reach those goals? Did you grow emotionally, and spiritually? What will be different in 2017?

There is one thing life has taught me and it’s this; in order to see change, you must do things differently than in the past. You can’t keep doing the same thing in the same way and expect to see change.

It is also important to set realistic short term goals, and long term goals. I don’t believe in making resolutions. They usually tend to fall by the wayside two weeks into the new year.

Write your goals down on paper. Set a strategy in place with all of the things that you will need in order to achieve them.

Be prepared to drop a few individuals whom you’ve been carrying. Keep the people in your circle that have proven to be of help, support, and who have been an encouragement to you. Don’t waste energy on relationships that are not giving you what you need in order to grow and expand mentally.

Be disciplined and diligent in your quest to reach your goals for 2017.  Decide now how you will handle those days when you absolutely want to throw in the towel and give up. Work out a strategy now for staying on track no matter what. At times, we can be our own worse enemy.

Align yourself with people who are achieving their dreams. If you don’t know of any such persons, start reading about anyone who fits that category.  Hearing about other people’s journey to success is a great motivator. Read up on everything and anything that has to do with what you are looking to do. Take a couple of classes if necessary.

Confront your fears and your worse nightmares. Sometimes they are only illusions. Keep in mind that anything worth doing is not without difficulty. Roll up your sleeves and do the hard stuff. Hard work really does pay off and besides that, it has never killed anyone.

Learn from all of your past mistakes and blunders and aim to avoid them in the future. Share your ideas and dreams with people who will respect them. Sometimes you have to keep your mouth shut with what you’re doing. Not everyone wants to see you succeed! Everyone is not in your corner!

Have a prosperous and eventful New Year! Enjoy the journey and all of the exciting and wonderful things that can come your way! Embrace meeting new people and make it a year you will be proud of!

Mask: A cover or partial cover for the face, used for a disguise, a false face, a cover up.

There are appropriate times for wearing a mask. At a masquerade party you can see the different masks that people arrive in. You might be able to identify who’s behind the mask if you are familiar with the exposed features of their face. Perhaps you can recognize an individual by their lips, nose or hair. Children as well as adults are known for wearing masks on the day of Halloween. Those are usually the appropriate times for wearing a mask.

There are masks that are not physical masks. They are the ones some people wear in order to disguise themselves, to cover their flaws, to re-invent themselves or to pretend that they are someone else.

Masked persons have held others hostage to the pain in their life. They cover up emotionally by giving others the impression that they are loving, caring and kind; meanwhile they are manipulative with evil intentions along with a host of other issues and problems. If anyone dare confront them on their behavior, they whip out another mask to cover the one they’re wearing.

Some people have learned to wear masks from the time of their childhood. If they have had a bad childhood or have experienced trauma, they may, for self preservation, wear a mask.

Once you get into the habit of wearing a mask, it is hard to take it off. You will have a difficult time confronting the real you!

Physical masks were meant to be removed. They are not to be permanently worn. Physical masks prevent you from seeing clearly. They block peripheral view. Physical masks can also be cumbersome and stifling. Emotional masks are similar in that they prevent individuals from facing the truth about themselves.

Liars wear masks! Liars don’t like themselves and as a result, they lie to cover or conceal the things they dislike or feel insecure about. They lie to mask the truth about their true character.

The problem with emotional masks is this; ‘People are transparent’! Really they are! Eventually everyone you deal with or have dealt with, will see you for who you really are! No mask of any size will hide that truth. Just give it some time.

Some of us wear more than one mask. We interchange them regularly; depending  on who we are trying to impress at the time.

Do you wear a mask? Have you ever tried to remove it? It is more fashionable and healthy to be yourself! We all have flaws and foibles. We all have weaknesses and failings. We all have feet of clay. The beauty is that we can always change the things that need to be changed in our lives. We have control over that. If you are trapped in past experiences that have wounded you, make the decision to get free of those negative feelings and reactions and take off the mask!

Remember this! Masks will never leave the wearer any happier. The longer you wear the mask the more miserable you’ll become.

That Time of Year

Fall Season2015 is quickly coming to an end and I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is 5 weeks away! At the end of each year, I try to reflect over the past months and take inventory.

It’s important to take inventory of our lives. We should also set realistic goals that will enable us to achieve what is necessary and vital for happiness and productivity.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand still for too long. I have to be moving and growing and trying new things. That’s how I spell ‘Growth’.

I am in the process of finishing my fourth book as well as creating works of art that will hit the market place.

2015 has been a year wrought with challenges of all kinds. Life wouldn’t be ‘Life’ without these divine interruptions. By the time Thanksgiving comes around, I will have a host of things that I am grateful and thankful for!

Overall, its been a good year so far, at least for me. I’ve seen a lot and I’ve learned a lot. That is something no one can take away from me! I took creativity to a completely different level, while challenging myself at the same time.

I took the ‘Hard Things’ that life and God handed me and rolled with it, knowing that it was all going to work for my good!

It feels good to grow and to expand in areas of the heart and mind.

That’s what makes life worth living!

Living Out Your Purpose!

At Your Disposal Lord!

At Your Disposal Lord!

There is nothing more gratifying and satisfying than to live the life you were intended to live!

To awaken each day on purpose makes life worth living. I use to wake up each day thinking of ways to avoid life all together. Life was hard then, and life wasn’t worth living; in my opinion. Life was painfully lonely and sad. There were a lot of people around me, but they didn’t even see me. They didn’t know me, just my name.

I observed others as they went about accomplishing their dreams and pursuing their life long passion and wondered what was the difference between me and them. Yes, they had all of the vital things in place to help them get from one stepping stone to another, but then I noticed how others, similar to them, failed to achieve anything.

I began to observe some who I could identify with, who had a similar background with similar struggles. One thing stood out! They had ‘determination!’ Despite their struggles, despite the fact that no one was there to encourage them, they went after any and everything that they were interested in, and they developed a passion for what they were good at!

Passion is caught. It cannot be taught! I had desires and dreams too! At the time, I thought it would be impossible for me to achieve anything because I didn’t have people in my corner, but I was sadly mistaken. All I needed was ‘Me’! I needed to be in my corner and do what came natural for me to do and stick with that! That’s exactly what I did! In the process, I got someone’s attention and the rest is history.

I discovered that I was alive and on this planet for a reason. I discovered that It was necessary for me to live life to the fullest despite all of the odds that were against me. There were many odds against me. I was motherless and fatherless, I was a female and black at that, I was alone, and I was invisible to most!

There is nothing more powerful than to work with what you’ve been given. I decided that I wouldn’t let anything keep me from accomplishing my dreams! Every obstacle became an opportunity to try harder. Every closed door made me knock  longer. I read books on everything and anything that I wanted to do. Just about everything I know how to do came from reading about it! I decided that there was no one that could rob me of living out my purpose but ‘Me’!

I attribute all of my success and all of what I’ve been able to achieve, to a God who entered the struggle with me. I invited Him into my life to be there for the long haul and to escort me through this journey called, ‘Life’!

I am living out my passion as a writer and living out my purpose! I am achieving goals each and every day and it began with a little determination and we know that a little ‘determination’ goes a long way!
